Introduction
Hello all, I'd like to introduce myself and explain my interest in this site. My name is Indra Sinha, I am a novelist currently working on a story set in the ancient world. I find myself wanting to quote sometimes from classical texts, but would rather not simply lift other people's translations (even with permission) as translation is such a personal business. I read Greek, but my pronunciation is certainly dodgy and my understanding of the language is rudimentary so for translations from Greek and Latin, I will read existing translations (which usually differ a lot from one another, especially if an attempt has been made to write in rhyme) and having got an impression, I open a Loeb, or consult the Perseus-Tufts dual language site for a sense of the sounds and wordplay and to check the meaning of each word. This isn't the best way obviously but is the only one open to me...other than consulting people with a much better knowledge than mine, hence registering with Textkit.

Re: Introduction
Welcome to Textkit! I moved your second post from Composition, Discussions & Debate to Learning Greek.
Corrections are welcome (especially for projects).
