Pliny Quote

Postby kkkidder » Tue Feb 10, 2004 6:04 am

Hello,

I came across the following quote in a book and cannot trace it to its source, or even determine which Pliny it belongs to. Does anyone know?

"The great business of man is to improve his mind and govern his manners."

Thanks,
K Kidder

Hello and welcome to textkit!

I'm thinking it's probably Pliny the Elder. He was full of great quotes like, off the top of my head:
"It is amazing the extent to which Greek gullibility will go."
and
"Sexual intercourse cures pain in the lower regions, unsoundness of mind and depression."

My guess anyway.
