Greek is Slavonic

Macedonian is really confusing. First I don’t even know what the heck this guy is talking about. http://www.maknews.com/html/articles/belchevsky1.html

Is just me or is he confusing ancient Macedonian with Modern Macedonian? From what I gather he is saying ancient Macedonian is a Slavonic language. Is (Alexandrian) Macedonian even an Indo-European language?

Then there is the Greek take on this. Macedonian is a Greek dialect ...? What kind of linguistics/philology are these people learning? I mean some of their ideas or views about ancient Greek phonetics are already peculiar. There must be a tremendous amount of political influence in their academic institutions.

Yeah, ancient and modern Macedonia is probably confusing you a bit. Thing is that the (modern) Greeks don't respect the state of Macedonia. It's very dangerous territory... avoid talking about with Greeks if at all possible.
Ancient Macedonia is a part of Greece, so they spoke Greek there (a Macedonian dialect though), whereas modern Macedonia is not Greece, it's Slavic and they don't speak Greek there.
