News article (perhaps not "news" exactly) on Latin

Post by annis »

At the Economist

It has the usual nonsense about the clarity and purity of Latin (whatever that might mean in a language), but is an interesting light diversion.

The literature and poetry annoys me. It's just that, if I ever am Bill or Ted and have an excellent adventure, I will have a leg, albeit still infirm, on which to stand.

Anyway that is a very interesting (as you put it) article - and it certainly entertained me as I read all of it!

I don't think the heading "totium orbium lingua" is correct.
flebile nescio quid queritur lyra, flebile lingua murmurat exanimis, respondent flebile ripae
