80 year old American living in Portugal. Still professionally active in a small way in neuropathology but
I need something else to keep my mind busy, and have turned to Latin , having always been attracted to Latin poetry.
I don't read Latin fluently; I can scan verse much more easily than I can understand it. Caesar is the only writer I can
enjoy without a trot, so I depend a lot on the Loeb Classical Library books, with which I've been doing Horace's Epistles.
I really should buckle down and acquire better reading skills in Latin and habits and necessary vocabulary. I can still memorize
word lists and remember them a couple of days later, but if I don't use them, then they go.
