I'm crossposting this advert for a book I have helped publish, I hope you don't mind?
In cooperation with my friend Daniel Pettersson, the founder of http://latinitium.com, I have prepared a new edition of a quite interesting text book, Ad Alpes: a Tale of Roman Life by H. C. Nutting. A lot of things combine to make this book particularly appealing, in my opinion: the content is quite varied, the quality of the Latin is consistently very good, and of about the same difficulty throughout, and it is fairly long (about 200 pages). All together, this makes for perfect extensive reading for a student who has learned all the basic grammar but who now wants practice to get up to speed when reading, and to expand their vocabulary.
For this new edition, we have reset the text, but kept the font and the layout from the original. This has enabled us to make some light editing, such as correcting a few typos, reviewing macrons and spelling (such as raeda instead of rēda), and a introducing a few modernizations to the English vocabulary.
For more information, please visit https://www.latinitium.com/books/adalpes where you also will find a preview of the first chapter. You can also preview the book directly at Amazon, of course: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1981365737/re ... _ti_hist_1

Just received my edition of this from Amazon today. Looking forward to reading it. I’ve been scouring the web for intermediate readers after finishing Orberg and this looks perfect. Thanks for posting the link!

This is indeed a very useful book for intermediate students. Those with a very firm grasp of the basics will be able to use the reader without assistance, other than the vocabulary at the back. However, others do need some support and this is provided by my own on-line version with interlinear translation, perhaps better described as glossing since it is word-for-word. I have also added extensive notes, mainly on the historical and cultural background, which may be of interest even to highly proficient students. The edition is available for free download at https://linguae.weebly.com/ad-alpes.html

I read the first half which was free. I like the naughty slave who's always getting in and out of trouble.
