New online: Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

Postby Carolus Raeticus » Fri Sep 05, 2014 8:45 am

Salvete omnes!

I am proud to announce that my transcription of the Shakespeare-drama Julius Caesar (Latin translation by Henricus Denison) is now online. I donated it to Project Gutenberg to ensure its continued existence on the Web.

Salve Godmy!

Thank you, Godmy.

Thank you. Strangely enough, this is not the only translation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Another translation was made by one C.W. Goodchild. It was published as a serial in the Latin magazine Praeco Latinus edited by Arcadius Avellanus, with the last instalment being Vol. 1, Numerus 11. However, due to Vol. 4 not being available online (and with Vol. 5, Numerus 1 the drama already having reached Act II, Scene I), the entire translation is not available right now (at least to my knowledge). Hopefully, some day Vol. 1 and 4 will be scanned and uploaded for ready access to all.

Vale,
