taedet eam vitae

Post by pmda »

Orberg (iterum)....

Tum vero infelix Dido fatis exterrita mortem orat; taedet eam vitae.

Taedeo (+ gen aut inf. + acc personae).

Nonne 'eam' acc. personae? She was weary of her life...

Yes, "she was weary of life."

taedet is generally an impersonal verb, used primarily if not exclusively in the third person singular. The person who is bored or weary is in the accusative, and the thing that bores or wearies him or her goes in the genitive. me paenitet, "I regret", behaves similarly.
