I've got a copy of the old Kinchin Smith "Teach Yourself Latin."
It looks like a much better book than the "Teach Yourself Greek" by the same authot.
If anyone familiar with this Latin book? Opinions?
Old Kinchin Smith book?

I have the same book. It's alright - reasonably fast paced and assumes a lot of revision. So if you take your time for it and revise a lot it will certainly set you up to really start learning the language.
I think it could have done with more example sentences when it gets to more complicated concepts.
I can't compare it with other grammars though, because it's the only one I've ever used.
Ps. Lucus Eques recommends Lingua Latina (Thought I'd save you the trouble Luce!)

“Cum ego verbo utar,” Humpty Dumpty dixit voce contempta, “indicat illud quod optem – nec plus nec minus.”
“Est tamen rogatio” dixit Alice, “an efficere verba tot res indicare possis.”
“Rogatio est, “Humpty Dumpty responsit, “quae fiat magister – id cunctum est.”
