Translation of latin

Post by Boban »

Is my translation ok?

1) Non facile senex sententiam mutat.
It's not easy to change old opinion.

2) Iactatio et vanitas gloriam ardenter cupiunt.
Dissipation and vanity passionately want glory.

3) Homo sapiens non semper sapientissime agit.
Wise man never repel the wisest.

Rather "an old man does not change his opinion easily"

#2 is ok.
3) Homo sapiens non semper sapientissime agit.
Wise man never repel the wisest.
Yes, agere has many meanings, but here it is safer to understand it as "act, behave", and non semper means rather "not always" than "never" (numquam), so : "Wise man does not always behave in the wisest way."

Note : my mother tongue is French, not English.

dissipation? iactatio means "boastfulness"
flebile nescio quid queritur lyra, flebile lingua murmurat exanimis, respondent flebile ripae
