Cicaro

Post by msfonsecajr »

Amici,

Salutes plurimas vobis, amantibus linguam latinam. Quoddam adjutamen rogo vos.

Valete!!

Cicaro appears to be a very obscure word used by Petronius in the Cena Trimalchionis, which Carbonero cites. The references that I find to it are discussing what it might mean.

This book gives the following explanation:
This word is taken by Bucheler to mean “a small boy”; being the same word as Cicero and connected with the root car in creare, cresco.
--Cicero, De Senectute
