Pronunciation Help: sensus plenior

Post by reed4 »

Could someone please help me with the pronunciation of "sensus plenior?" I know the first word is pronounced like the English "census," but I am not sure of the pronunciation of "plenior."

I do NOT need translation help, only pronunciation assistance.

Many thanks, and happy new year!

plēnus

The e is pronounced roughly like the ey sound in they. It's purer though, perhaps more like the sound in the German word mehr.

-ior

Each of these vowels here are short. So I suppose you could pronounce them like -ih-or

plēnior

The stress would be on ē.

It is difficult to tell you how to pronounce it in writing. That description should be good enough though.
