huh??? help please

The "dē fāmā" part is screwing me up. What does the Latin mean?

Amīcus Phaëthontis dē fāmā dīvīnae orīginis dubitat.

Phaëthon's friend doubts [from fame] divine origin.???

I would think that this phrase should instead be:

Phaethon's friend is doubting about the rumor of divine origin.
