In Exercitio LLPSI Orberg scribit: 'Valeant Cives mei! Beati sint omnes!

? Cur non Valete Cives mei! Beati este omnes!

In verbo 'Valeo' estne omnes personae imperativus?

The subjunctive can be used on its own to issue a command. It is technically known as the "jussive," and unlike the imperative, it can be used for all three persons, including the first and third. "Valeant Cives mei! Beati sint omnes!" could translate as "May all of my citizens be well! May all be blessed!" The jussive is sometimes translated with "let," as in, "discedamus" "let's go!" or "moriantur" "let them die!"
Horae quidem cedunt et dies et menses et anni, nec praeteritum tempus umquam revertitur nec quid sequatur sciri potest. Quod cuique temporis ad vivendum datur, eo debet esse contentus. --Cicero, De Senectute
