Quality of "Lexicon Atriale"-reprint?

Postby Carolus Raeticus » Mon May 16, 2011 7:47 am

I am looking for a Latin-only dictionary and am thinking about buying a reprint edition of the Lexicon Atriale Latino-Latinum, Simplices and Nativas Rerum Lexicon Atriale Latino-Latinum, Simplices and Nativas Rerum Nomenclationes (1657) by Johann Amos Comenius, probably the edition by "Kessinger Legacy Reprints".

However, the Amazon-entry contains the following warning:

Amazon wrote:This Book Is In Latin. Due to the very old age and scarcity of this book, many of the pages may be hard to read due to the blurring of the original text.

Does anyone own such a reprint? Is it still legible enough to be worth buying?

Carolus, you can check at GoogleBooks and look at the PDF yourself - the quality is determined not by the printing process but by Google's original scan - here is the book at GoogleBooks; as such things go, it is quite a good scan:
There is an on-again, off-again project to transcribe the book so that its contents are searchable here:
It's a really fascinating book - I like it because it often cites proverbs in the definitions! :-)
