Proper names ending in -eus

Please, could anybody answer this little question concerning Latin accent position?
According to Latin pronunciation, which is the stressed syllable in those names from Greek origin ending in -eus, like Perseus, Atreus, Odysseus, Peleus etc.? Do they all follow the rule of the penult as other Latin words do? Or must the accent be pronounced on -eus?

In Latin as in Greek, and in Latin following the normal rule on the antepenultimate: Per'seus, A'treus, Odys'seus, Pe'leus.
Latinè sicut graecè, vel* secundum cotidianam regulam in antepaenultimam: Per'seus et reliqua

the first part of your post seems to imply that these words are accented on the last syllable (given that the rule in grk is that nouns in –ευς are accented on the last syllable: see chandler on grk accentuation, s655 (pg 186): http://www.archive.org/stream/accentuat ... 6/mode/1up )

the second part of your post, however, seems to imply the opposite.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. My understanding (from memory) is that classically you can pronounce either way in Latin, like the Greek or using Roman rules.

I can't find something justifying the (Latin) alternative (maybe I'm misremembering), but here's what I can see right now (Greek words with Greek accents):
Vestigia reperire quae alternationem approbant non possum (de eo quod priùs dixi, forsàn erro). Ecce autem quod modò reperio (Graeca verba Graecis accentibus).

Saepe conturbat: meminerimus ut graeca verba graecis accentibus pronuntiemus, quae verba in ultimis syllabis accentus habent, quae Latini habere non possunt, ut Dido, Nais. [in his ultimae habent circumflexum accentum]
