fuit

Post by little flower »

hi again
I am working through Adler at the moment (ex 87). Is the word 'fuit' the answer to the folllowing 2 questions?
1. I have had some sugar.
2. You ...
Why not fui and fuisti respectively (from the perfect tense of sum).
Thanks.

Little flower.

Minimè, floscule. // No, little flower.

"Have I had some sugar? I have had some."
"Habuine saccharum? Habui (aliquantulum/nonnullum).
vel
Ecquod fuit mihi saccharum? Fuit.

"Have I had good paper? You have had some."
"Habuine chartam bonam? Habuisti.
vel
Fuitne mihi charta bona? Tibi fuit."
I'm writing in Latin hoping for correction, and not because I'm confident in how I express myself. Latinè scribo ut ab omnibus corrigar, non quod confidenter me exprimam.
