cunctus vs totus

Postby Quis ut Deus » Tue Dec 22, 2009 4:45 pm

Salvete omnes!

I was wondering about the words 'cunctus' vs 'totus?'

Are these words exact synonyms, or are there some usage differences?

Gratias vobis ago, amici!

Thank you for this very useful resource, cb. I'm not sure I totally grasp the distinction that the author is making between omnis, totus, cunctus, and universus, but it was useful nonetheless.

Quis ut Deus, at your stage I'd remember what the author writes at the end, that these words are sometimes used interchangeably.
--Cicero, De Senectute

Salvete!

Thanks for the link.

So, I could write something like:

Puto feminas cunctas (totas) pulchras esse.
