link to work? All I manage is one page of a .pdf with a bit of scribble.

There is a very old one for sale on 'that' internet auction site somewhere, I noticed yesterday.

I'm convinced that with a clever bit of searching the Perseus 'search English defs in L&S, LSJ' should act as a GaP, but lack the technical ability to prove my theory![/url]

in terms of a good Latin gradus, Ainger and Wintle is the typical favourite, although F. Noel's and Quicherat's french versions are more complete. I also find Carey's Gradus useful.
In Latin, Maltby's is very useful but very hard to track down at a sensible price. Much cheaper and easier to come by is Jackon's Iambica, which although specialising in words tractable in iambic trims is useful for much poetic composition.

The link appeared in one of the first two threads at the bottom of this board. It's supposed to be a French, free Latin GaP. I appear to have arrived here quite some time after everyone else, wonder how I missed it.
I'll stick Jackson and Ainger & Wintle onto that scraplet in my pocket - but since I am going where I am in the autumn I'm fairly reluctant to spend very much at all, all is available in KCL, UCL and SoHS libraries.
I have a cacoethes scribendi for some pure Ovidian distichs, but lack the inspiration, and don't lack other things which have to be done and are somewhat more important!

Ah well, the wind is now in full possession of all of my caution - Ainger & Wintle, and Jackson both ordered for twenty squids (the lot, not each!). More reference should make finding suitable words easier than thumbing through dicts. so I'll have more time to concentrate on other things - I can see a skew in that logic already
