Pharr Lesson XI - Aorists

I have a very basic question. I am working on the practice sentences in Lesson XI of Pharr and I can't understand some of the forms given.
[sorry I'm missing the diacritics]

6. οτε κακωσ π?οσεειπεν Ατ?ειδησ Χ?υσην, τοτε εχολωσεν εκηβολον.

I'm reading it with the aorist, as "When the son of Atreus spoke wickedly to Chryses, he then angered the free-shooter." But what is going on with "π?οσεειπεν" and "εχολωσεν"?

If the verb is third person aorist singular active, shouldn't it be "π?οσεειπε" and "εχολωσε" without the "v"? Is it because the next word starts with a vowel?

Thanks for any help! I just bought myself Pharr for my debut in Greek and so far things are slow but very interesting.
