I know Pharr-b will be ending in a few more weeks, so I've started to set things up for the Iliad 2 reading group. Let me know what week we should start on.

Also, what sort of pace do people want? I'd think 15-20 lines per session, with some attempt to break things up reasonably accounting for week to week variation.

And what day of the week for exact due dates?

Pharr-b has the monday now to turn in homework. That day suits me just fine.

I voted for the week of the 24th to start, because the week of the 17th I have a standby shift at work and that usually means working over 30 extra hours in that week. So not much time for anything else.

Are we talking 15-20 lines per week? Forgive me, this will be my first time in a Textkit reading group.

As for due dates, I'm not really sure what will work best for me right now. I'm going to be moving in mid-May and again in August. So things will be in the air for me, but I don't see 15-20 lines a week as posing much of a problem.

Hi,

The current plan is as follows:

a. earlier lessons will consist of fewer lines than later lessons, e.g., 8-10 lines at the outset

b. text will be divided more or less naturally according to divisions used by Benner (Selections from Homer's Iliad), then subdivided as per (a)

c. we won't do the catalog of ships

d. lessons will be uploaded to our GTSS (guided text study system) software

I plan to start uploading the text this week. There is no need for me to upload it in its entirety. That is, the group can begin before the text is fully uploaded.

Do we have an accurate count of likely participants?

Cordially,

Paul
