HELP: Scanning Line 1:89

Post by majystr »

Heya,

I'm having the dickens of a time trying to scan line 1:89 in the Iliad. Any help out there?

-- -- | -- u u | -- u u u | -- -- | -- u u | -- --

Obviously something is HORRIBLY wrong in my third foot. Can the "ba" in bareias be long? I'm I crazy? Which syllable I'm I mis-scanning?

Thanks for the help in advance!

KDG

hi, nhu- in nhusi/ is one syllable, like in line 26; that should fix it :)

The "hu" dipthong! It was right in front of me all the time!

Thanks!
