I decided to start with Homeric greek. however I wanted to know if the BAGD would suffice?

Hi,
The BDAG is a marvelous dictionary. But if you're going to do Homer (bravo!), I would urge you to get Cunliffe's lexicon.

You probably think that they stand for Ancient Greek.

It stands for Bauer, Danker, Arndt and Gingrich.
It is THE lexicon for Biblical Greek.

I don't think Cunliffe is available online. You can preview it at Amazon, if you want---but you won't be disappointed.
