kai usage

Post by psilord »

So, suppose I want to say something like "many dreadful noises" (accusative), would I say it like this:

πολλὰς δεινὰς κλαγγάς

or like this:

πολλὰς καὶ δεινὰς κλαγγάς?

I think I'm supposed to do the latter form....

Thanks.

καὶ or τε would normally be used to link those two adjectives together, but it's apparently sometimes left out in poetry.

If I remember right, one of the bigger Greeks on this site told me that a string of adjectives without a word between was not liked by the Greeks .
That would make it πολλὰς καὶ δεινὰς κλαγγάς,
or πολλὰς κλαγγὰς δεινάς.
