By the way did you know that with enough experience you can tell to what century a manuscript belongs? And there are a lot of other things that can be told just by the style of writing.

This is another part of learning called paleography.

Skipping over the various sites about paleography, I glanced upon a statement that says you can't clearly tell which period the manuscript was written just by its style, that the size of the letters also varied to enhance the readibility.
But yes, with all the information and your experience you could tell its age very closely.
