Non-Being and Not
Today during my History of Philosophy class, my professor was talking about Parmenides and his view of non-being. It was said that Parmenides used the term ο?κ ὄν and this was to mean absolute non-being, the ο?κ meaning absolutely not. Plato later counters this by making the phrase μη ὄν, relative non-being; the μη here being relatively not. Can ο?κ and μη mean these things? I thought they were used based on the "mood" (here included infinitive and participles), ο?κ for indicatives and μη for the rest.
