Greek grammar question

Post by caesarion »

Hi, I am beginner in classical Greek and learning on my own, If someone could shed light this particular issue I'd be very grateful.

When using the verb "to be" I understand that the complement does not take the article. So in a sentence such as "You are the General of the Army"
Does this Become (sorry don't know how to type greek letters)

stpatngos tns stratias ei

or you keep the article with strategos and it becomes:

tov tns stratias stpatngov ei

thanks!
