Crosby&Schaeffer/Anabasis vocab sets for Crosswire Flash

Post by wutka »

I know a lot of people don't use Crosby&Schaeffer, but since the vocabulary is geared towards Anabasis, this may be useful for people studying White as well. There is a handy (and free) Java-based flashcard program at http://www.crosswire.org/flashcards/

By default, it has various card sets for biblical greek and hebrew. I found a collection of vocabulary files for Crosby&Schaeffer and converted them to work with the Crosswire FlashCards program. Once you install FlashCards, just download a replacement lessons.jar from http://www.wutka.com/download/lessons.jar
and copy it to the directory where FlashCards is installed (it should overwrite an existing lessons.jar). When you start up FlashCards again, you should see CrosbySchaeffer and CrosbySchaefferReview cards sets in addition to the others.

If you are a little more adventurous, you can install these card sets separately (there's no real reason to do this unless you want to edit these sets or you don't like replacing Crosswire's original jar). FlashCards lets you create additional card sets. On Windows, it stores them in \Documents and Settings\your-username-here\.flashcards\lessons
note the period before flashcards
On linux it stores them in /your-home-directory/.flashcards/lessons

You can download the individual card sets from http://www.wutka.com/download/CrosbySchaeffer.zip and http://www.wutka.com/download/CrosbySchaefferReview.zip

Just unzip these files in the lessons directory and restart FlashCards.
