Trouble with Sophokeys

Post by Lucus Eques »

Χαί?ετε!

My Italian Latin tutor (also a master of Greek) was delighted today to receive, among other technological advantages, Latin Words and Sophokeys. He too has a Mac of course, but unfortunately we couldn't get it to work. His computer is definitely more updated than mine, OS 10.4 at least I think; and in short we couldn't figure out how to make it switch. He is able to switch effectively between normal keyboards like Hindi and Italian that come with the Mac, but for some reason his computer refused at any point to be switched to Sophokeys. Does anyone know what this problem might be?

When he opens System Prefences > International, the box for Sophokeys is checked, I take it?

Yes, all four. And they appear in the little icon in the menu bar as a part of the list of activated keyboards; nevertheless, even when selected, the keyboard returns to what it was before.

Perhaps the program he wants to work with has a non-unicode font as default? Seems improbable, but you never know. All part of the process of elimination of possible causes.

Certainly, if a unicode font is used.
