Why does the 2nd sg. imperative of LU/W ([face=SPIonic]lu=e[/face]) have a circumflex and of QE/LW ([face=SPIonic]qe/le [/face]) an acute?

Vowel length. The upsilon in the present stem of [face=spionic]lu/w[/face] is long.
