Need a Translation of a Sentence

Postby JLatin1 » Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:13 pm

Here's the sentence:

To be only body is to be an animal; To be only spirit is to
be an angel; To fuse them together is to be a human being.

Thanks in advance for your efforts.

a crude attempt:

[face=SPIonic]to\ sw=ma monon ei)=nai h( tw=n zw|/wn ou)si/a e)sti, kai to\ pneu=ma mo/non ei)=nai h( tw=n a)gge/lwn. h( de\ a)nqrw/pwn ou)sia mi/cij a)mfote/rwn e)sti/.[/face]

Another crude attempt, focusing on Greeking the sense rather than the original phrasing:

[face=spionic]qh\r me/n e)stin o(/stij mo/non e)sti\ sw=ma, a)/ggeloj de\ o(/stij mo/non yuxh/, kai\ a)/nqrwpoj o(/stij a)/mfw mi/gnusi.[/face]

Possibly [face=spionic]me/miktai[/face], the perfect, might be better in the last clause.
