New greekstudy groups (Anabasis and Pharr's Homeric Greek)

Hi folks:

Thought some of you might be interested in two new
groups on the greekstudy list starting in mid-June
(one Attic and one Homeric). Both groups are free and
either would be ideal for someone interested in
refreshing rusty Greek.

There will be an Attic group translating Xenophon's
Anabasis. The assignments will be quite manageable
(approximately 200-250 words per week) and anyone who
has had even a little Greek should fit right in.
Although this is a long-term group, summer-only
participants are more than welcome. Student editions
of the Anabasis are, of course, widely available from
used booksellers and there is a free PDF student
edition available from Textkit. More information
about this group can be found at:

A rapid, summer Homeric Greek course is also set to
begin in mid June. This group will be working through
the entirety of Clyde Pharr's Homeric Greek: A Book
for Beginners (starting June 15 and ending September
2). While Pharr's textbook is intended for the
beginner with no Greek experience, the rapid pace is
probably more suited for a review/refresher (or an
introduction to Homeric Greek from someone who's
already had a little Attic). By the end of the course
you'll have read 611 lines from Book I of the Iliad.

Pharr's text is also available from many used
bookseller and there is also a free PDF copy available
from Textkit. More information about this group can
be found at:
