Post by Thomas3333333 »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why the answer key used eorum to translate their instead of the suus, a, um?

Thank you

I don't have D'Ooge readily available, but suus, -a, -um is reflexive while eius/eorum isn't. If you gave the full sentence, I'd make it clear for you.

Question and answer given

Post by Thomas3333333 »

The question was:

The soldiers were sitting where the baggage had been placed because their feet were weary.

The answer key translative given is:

Milites ibi sedebant ubi impedimenta conlocata erant quia pedes (eorum) defessi erant.

Thankyou.

My guess is that the clauses are separated by quia. You usually see suus, -a, -um in the same clause...I think... sorry, late at night here.
