The answer to 146,page 61

The original text:"Ii pueri cum Cornelia in oppido Roma,claro Italiae oppido,habitabant..."

the translation given :"These boys lived with Cornelia in the town of Rome,THE MOST FAMOUS TOWN of Italy"

I am wondering where the superlative form has come in,but according to me the superlative for "clarus,-a,-um"would be "clarissimus,-a,-um",assuming I am correct.

To the best of my knowledge you are right, it shouldn’t be “the most famous town of Italiaâ€￾. When I did that exercise I translated only to:

“the famous town of Italiaâ€￾.

Don’t know if it is only a question of a more free translation or if the superlative can be taken from the original by any unknown way to me.

It is not a free translation, it's just an error in the key. The key is certainly not error free, as it is the work of learners. If your answer is different from the key, check back with the original exercise, and try to determine which answer is correct (maybe both). If you don't get it, ask here.
