Asking for, granting, refusing. Petere, concedere, abnuere.

To allow, to permit. Dare copiam, facultatem, potestatem, licentiam, veniam.

Please, give, grant one thing to us. Unum sinite a nobis exorari. Unum concedite (date) nobis.

Allow me, I beg you, to… Date mihi, quaeso, veniam ut...

Let yourself be persuaded by our pleading. Sine te exorari.

Please, stand out of my sun, for you are casting a shade on me while I’m sunbathing. Rogo te, absis a sole, officis enim mihi apricanti.

Give me your hand, some water, my papers (notes). Cedo (cette) manum, aquam, tabulas.

I grant this to your pleading. Hoc precibus tuis concedo.

Your request is reasonable, justifiable. Aequum postulas.

I’ll get for you what you are asking for. Tibi quod postulas impetrabo.

I will allow you to do that. Tibi permissurus sum ut hoc facias.

I allow you to leave. Per me ut abeas licet.

He has permission to do whatever he likes. Omnium rerum libertatem tenet.

As far as the teacher permitted. Quantum praeceptoris voluntas tulit.

Who gave you permission? Quis tibi potestatem fecit? Τίς σοι ἐξουσίαν ἔδωκε (ἐφῆκε, ἐποίησε);

It’s not legal to do this. Illicitum est hoc agere.

I will not permit this to be done. Non committam ut hoc fieri possit.

I will not tolerate that. Non patiar. Non feram.

If you do that, you will be punished. Hoc si egeris, non feres in tacitum.

You are refusing a trifle to me. Mihi denegas quod tanti non est.

Don’t ask for more. Ne quid ultra requiras.

He never refused anything to me.

He obtained only a refusal from him. Nihil (ab illo) nisi repulsam tulit.
