We're getting restless

I notice my Latin brethren getting anxious, seeing that the Greeks now have two fora, while the Romans have but one. The Latin forum is also much larger... :o

Too bad there aren't as many people familiar with the other brands of Latin...

Hi! New Member...

Hello all!

Stumbled upon your absolutely superb site yesterday when searching for resources to help me with my Latin. I congratulate the owners on their noble ideal of allowing such helpful grammar and vocabularly books to be avaliable freely online as well as the classical epics!

I downloaded my favourite two Classical stories that we studied in school (the Illiad and the Odyssey) as well as Berjamin L. D'Ooges' "Latin for Beginners".
<br ...

Spinoff from Lingua Latina by Hans Orberg

Trying to avoid going further off topic in the "Lingua Latina by Hans Orberg" thread... I'm continuing the off topic branch here.

Now hang on to your chair for this.. Textkit donated our copy of D'Ooge's Beginners Latin Book to the Distrubuted Proofreading Project. It'll eventually be posted on Project Gutenberg as a fully digital Latin grammar and it'll be Textkit's first 100% digital grammar download.

I've heard ...

Nemo

I found the following quote in the "Learning Latin" forum, and followed it up here-:bows to Jeff:.

Quote from: Milito on July 28, 2003, 10:47:00 AM
Nemo! Qui dicit ut esse zealot malum sit?

I'm having trouble following this whole discussion, but I just wanted to comment on this word "Nemo". I looked it up and it means "no one, nobody". So the recent movie "Finding Nemo" really means ...

Textkit Wish List

"It never hurts to ask" and "ask, and you shall receive" are two of my favorite sayings that are remarkably true.

With this in mind, I'm asking for help in finding more of the harder to find grammars and readers. You should know that I don't have access to a college inter-library loan program, so it is very difficult to find quality books that are printed before 1923. Most I find through auctions and ...

North & Hillard Prose Key

I've downloaded North & Hillard Greek Prose Composition and the Key yesterday, but the Key starts midway through exercise 2. Was exercise 1 too easy to provide the answers?

Ptolemaios

Greetings to all!

Greetings, all.

My name's Merytdjehuty, and have a deep fascination with Ancient Egypt. I also began teaching myself Latin a year and a half ago, and am so pleased to find a site such a textkit where i can find grammars and a whole pile of other people who are interested in Latin (and Greek) too. I actually live in Australia, despite what my profile may say. I call myself a fantasy writer, having ...

Cool Picture of OLD Latin!

A while back, William Annis introduced me to the Oxyrhynchus Papyri project, and I was digging around on the site yesterday. It linked off to a parent site, which contained yet more Oxyrhynchus papyri. In that part of the site was a page called "A Millenium of Documents", (http://www.csad.ox.ac.uk/POxy/VExhibiti ... ame_hi.htm), and that in turn, three lines from the top, has a picture of a Latin letter (Syneros to ...
