Latin quote of the day

The company I work for announced layoffs in our dept last week, and we lost three people who were longtime employees with lots of experience and knowledge. I thought this quote was appropriate:

Latin or Greek? Hmm...

I have a simple question, which language do you think is harder, Latin or Greek? I’m sure this has been asked before so please forgive me if so.

I ask because I couldn’t restrain myself anymore the other day and I opened up A Greek Primer and read the first chapter. First there was the beginner’s hurdle: the alphabet. I didn’t have too much trouble with that because I have had past experience, and then ...

Sanskrit on TextKit?

Hello,
Is anyone here interested in learning Sanskrit? I myself would like to do so once I have reached competency in Latin and Greek.

Are there any plans to include Sanskrit books on Textkit?

Free Ancient Greek Texts

The Little Sailing

There are also Modern greek translations.
http://www.mikrosapoplous.gr/en/t2ten.htm

The number is small but hey are in pretty unicode fonts and NO need to worry about tricky copyright problems and no need to worry about the fonts ;)

Teaching Latin to 5th and 6th graders.

Does anyone know a good Latin textbook for 5th and 6th graders? I tutor students who are homeschooled, but usually I work with older (high school age) children whose parents have already chosen a textbook or program. I myself am partial to "Latin for Reading," but I don't think that would work for younger children. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Canon of Polykleitos

I am trying to find a Greek text known as the Canon of Polykleitos, and having a very hard time of it! I need it in English translation, but if I could find it in Greek as well that would be brilliant...

To my knowledge, the text only survives through quotation in Galen's writings. I have a reference, although I don't quite know what it means or what to do with it:
Galen, <i>De placitis ...
