Introduction

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself to the Textkit community. I studied Ancient History a long time ago, and am now trying to get back into it.

Part of that is taking up Latin and Greek again. That will be a bit of a struggle, since I haven't done anything with it for, say, 10 years now.

I'm sure I will be back with questions!

Regards,
Adelheid

Another introduction, sorry guys

Hi, I'm new...(what do you say in these threads?)
Anyway, I'm a high school freshman independent-studying with Jenney's (1979) and soon-Wheelock and Harrius Potter, when they come in a few days :) These forums seem great (people of all skill levels represented), and full of really smart mature people, so if I'm annoying, please notify me as I never can tell...

Greetings

Salve!

I'm new in here. I've been working on teaching myself Latin, primarily working with Wheelock's. I hadn't realized that I would find learning the language to be so enjoyable. In the past, I've learned some French (3 yrs of High School) and Japanese (solely by immersion). The French I remember relatively little of, since I didn't have quite the drive at the time to learn (just enough to handle tests and such).
I've been ...

Ancient Greek summerschool

Hi everyone!

I am looking for an Ancient Greek summer-course.

It should preferably take place somewhere in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany or the Benelux and in any case in Europe.

The time-frame should be preferably August - September, though July might be possible as well.

I only have a very basic level of Greek, so I am looking for a beginner's course.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What do you Guys think, like

This is the boring background story (you probably want to skip this, it's pathetic):

A few days ago I told my German teacher about how useless the 3 years of German had been. I hesitated on several occasions to word it in a less pungent manner and did it somewhat successfully, since she is a very nice person and I do doubt that she realise her class to be seriously poor at German. When I ...

Introduction

I'd like to introduce myself to the textkit community. I have recently begun a self-study of attic greek (using L A Wilding's Greek for Beginners rev. by Shelmerdine). In grad school I studied NW Semitic and Koine for a bit. I tried to do Homeric first, but couldn't get into Pharr's book. So hopefully someday it will be Herodotus and Xenophon if I'm lucky. I'm also interested in Gk mythology. I'm glad to have found ...

Starting either

I've a rather generic question, but i really love Latin, and I'm also interested in Greek, I've 'skimmed' through Latin grammar before and it looks incredibally difficult, probably a couple hundred declensions for nouns and verbs. I looked at a Koine book for learning NT and it didnt seem nearly as difficult, but im more interested in Latin. I'm also at an intermediate french level, which might help with vocabulary.

If I were to study ...
