For we now have a Greek member(or two?), I'd like to ask about a katharevousa dictionary. I couldn't find a mentioning of it in the internet. Is there any way to find such a thing?

I am working on learning greek and latin, somewhat simultaneously -- though i am quickly running out of hair to pull out. I have Hanson & Quinn's book and Wheelock's book. Well, that's me for now.

Hello All,

I am a new member here at Textkit. I was quite happy to find the site. I am a student of Koine Greek. I have 4 years of formal training in Koine...actually 3 1/2 with 1/2 a year devoted to Classical (which is not nearly enough IMHO). I am currently reading the Epistle of James and Apollodorus' Library (Book 121 LCL).

Being seated or sitting down

I'm sure the clever people here can help me...

The english verb sit apparently has two meanings. One is the terminal action of sitting down (usually indicated by "down"), the other is to be seated, i.e. the process.

I walked into the room and sat on the whoopey cushion = action, sit down
I sat on the grass all afternoon = action
We walked down the road and sat on the grass = ambigious! or ...

I am a Greek myself and the reason I am writing you is because I have some questions for the people who learn ancient Greek.
1) Do you know how does what you write sound like?
2) Why do you use all the (/- symbols between the words? What do they mean?
3) Hopefully I can understand what you write in "ancient Greek" but why don't you use Greeks fonts? That way you will ...
