Hello!

I'm new here, just thought I'd introduce myself! I'm trying to learn Koine (NT) Greek and Latin both, so reccommendations on texts for NT Greek study would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I already have D'ooge's text for Latin, so I'm working on that. I have a little experience with Greek, and none with Latin (just started today.) Hope to hear from all of you guys soon!

the Symposium and Shakespeare

Hi everyone,

Very glad to have found this forum today. Long ago in high school I studied Latin and liked it, but haven't taken it up since then - just the odd word
looked up, and some English translations of poetry, and of writings of Caesar and Hadrian. As a retired architect I now just follow my nose so to speak, and recently have been studying some Shakespeare ahead of the performances this summer at ...

Homeric Singing

Does anyone know any good internet sites which give audio recitations of the Iliad or Oddysey??

The following Ancient Greek music link is interesting:

www.oeaw.ac.at/kal/agm

It has the music for fragments of ancient greek songs and also a link to homeric singing.

Netscape and SPIONIC

Hi All,

A simple question for any of you using a Mozilla browser to view textkit: do you see SPIONIC text as greek glyphs?

If so, would you be so kind as to post the requisite browser settings?

I cannot get NN 4.7 or 7.0 to behave. I have no difficulties with IE.

Thanks.

Cordially,

Paul

Pliny Quote

Hello,

I came across the following quote in a book and cannot trace it to its source, or even determine which Pliny it belongs to. Does anyone know?

"The great business of man is to improve his mind and govern his manners."

Thanks,
K Kidder

Byzantine History Book?

Can anyone recommend an introduction to Byzantine history that a non-specialist has some chance of understanding and which is reasonably current? Emphasis on late-antiquity, early Byzantine by preference if such a focused work exists.

New Latin Lati-English and English-Latin dictionaries

I want to ask you: Are there any Latin-English and English-Latin good dictionaries.
But don`t to ancient latin but modern.
I read sometimes new latin from internet for example from GREX, but sometimes I have problems because some words aren`t in my dictionary.
The same problem I have when I want to write in latin. Old wards are in many exelent dictionaries, but modern?
