Septuagint Vocabulary

I don't have access to Accordance or similar software, so I'm asking here:

How many unique words are in the LXX (Swete's or Rahlf's, I'm not particular) that are not in the Greek New Testament?

How many unique words are in the GNT that are not in the LXX?

I'm just trying to get a feel for the ratios before I make the jump to working on the LXX.

Thanks!

Homeric vs Koine study??

Hello.

My main purpose is to learn Greek for the purpose of Biblical studies. I would like to not only read the New testament but the Septuagint as well. Also the Histories surrounding the Biblical periods that directly relate to Biblical study.

I know after the Assyrian and Babylonian captivities the world of the Hebrews fell under the Greek influence with Alexander the great and his generals. Is there enough Greek literature that would cover ...

Dobson vs. Hale

I've finished Mounce, but I'm sure there are a lot of finer points I've missed. I was going to do a second pass through it, but I read somewhere that for a second pass, it might be better to use a different textbook.

If I'm going to use a different textbook, I wanted one that would provide lots of easy reading (Lingua Latina-style) to drill the basic forms deep so I can really read in ...

Mark 14:34

In Mark 14:34, I found the Greek word μεινατε. I couldn't figure it out, so I looked it up, and it's parsed as the AAImp2P of μενω.

By my understanding, if μενω is first aorist, the result should be μενσατε. I guess the sigma could drop out for pronunciation, but it doesn't seem that hard to pronounce as-is, and where does the iota come from?

If it's second aorist, the iota would be part of ...

What is the form of ἐργᾷ? I don’t recognize it. Is it a verb or a noun? Thanks in advance for the help.

New Basics of Biblical Greek software?

I heard from a professor I've been meeting with recently that Mounce is working on a new version of Basics of Biblical Greek that will turn it into something of an online software system. Has anyone here heard anything about that? Totally hearsay at this point, although from a reliable source in this case. I'm interested to find out what it might look like. It's about time someone brings the learning of New Testament Greek ...

3rd declension

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site. Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere. I just recently started Basic's of Biblical Greek. I've breezed through most of the material but chapter 10 is giving me a hard time. When looking at a 3rd decl. noun, is there anyway to tell the gender or is it just simply memorization? Thanks.

Mark 13:32

Οὐ μὴ γέγραπται:

Περὶ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ἤ τῆς ὥρας οὐδεις οἶδεν, οὐδὲ οἱ ἄγγελοι ἐν οὐρανῷ οὐδὲ ὁ υἱός, εἰ μὴ ὁ πατὴρ καὶ Ἅρωλδ Κάμπιγγος.

Companion Text book W/BBG?

I am new to Greek and am currently using Mounce/BBG. I have read on this forum that BBG does not cover all that I need in learning Greek. So I am wondering if anybody has any suggestions for a good beginners textbook that would go perfectly and give me what I am missing with BBG. (Remember I am new to Greek) and also need a basic English guide as it relates to Greek.

Thank You ...

“Παύσονται” in 1Cor 13:8

"Ἡ ἀγάπη οὐδέποτε πίπτει· εἴτε δὲ προφητεῖαι καταργηθήσονται· εἴτε γλῶσσαι παύσονται· εἴτε γνῶσις καταργηθήσεται."(1 Cor 13:8)
Is the verb “Παύσονται” a future tense middle voice verb or a middle deponent? Is there any difference in meaning?
