Possible to Audit the Pharr Class Beginning on Nov. 8?

I saw that the Pharr Homeric Greek course starting on November 8 is full.
When will the next course be offered? Any chance I could just get on the
mailing list for the November 8 course if I promise not to ask any
questions? I'd be eternally greatful for a chance to sit in quietly.
Thanks!
Patrick

Homeric conditional sentences

I wrote this up for the Pharr-a group. Some others might find it useful.

http://www.textkit.com/groups/pharr/conditions.pdf

The chart on the last page is probably the most useful part. I would like eventually to add more specifically Homeric examples, but not just now.

Feel free to suggest improvements.

Line 1.3

I found this line tricky (al least to me).

polla\j d' i)fqi/mous yuxa\j )/Aidi proi/ayen

According to Pharr, i)fqi/mous modifies yuxa\j, but they have different genders, so which word does i)fqi/mous modify?

Scanning Line 1.8

Hi,
I think that I have scanned this line correctly:

ti/j t a)/r sfwe qew=n e)/ridi xune/hke ma/cesqai

- - | - u u | - u u | - u u | - u u | - -

But I would want to know why ma in ma/cesqai is long, since it is followed by a double consonant, or I am completely wrong.

homeric vocabulary frequency

In Homeric vocabularies by William Bishop Owen and Edgar Johnson Goodspeed the authors list words by the frequency they occur in the Illiad and the Odyssey; so that you have a list of words emphasizing which ones are used the most, or which ones are more important to memorize. Is there such a list available on-line?

New mailinglist?

I have Pharr's book, the wish to read Homer, but I can't seem to get started all on my own. Well, I got started, but couldn't keep it up.

Is there anyone who would like to start a new mailinglist with me, be it one without expert guidance, but just to support one another and keep going? We could always post the questions here, that we can't figure out ourselves.

Let me know!

Regards,
Adelheid

vocabulary listings

Not all verbs have all the principal parts listed.
Why are some missing principal parts indicated with a dash while others are just skipped over. See page 99 and compare e)pisseu/w and kote/w.
