REading Homer

how close do you think this reading is to the real accent of the ancients?

I am trying to learn but I don't sound anything like this fellow, and I am trying to stress the accents.

FSA (first declension) question

Is there any way to tell from the standard form of the noun (singular nominative, singular genitive ending, pronoun) whether the FSA ending is hn vs. an?

For example:
Standard Form__________Accusative Singular
boulh/, h=j, h9 _____________boulh/n
qea/, a=j, h9 ______________qea/n
qa/lassa, hj, h9 ___________qa/lassan

Thank you

(Apologies if this has already been asked & answered):

Textkit versus study

there are days when self discipline is totally gone. I find myself with my books open paper and pens ready to to begin and textkit forums open reading every possible post new and archived and noticing my time for study has just up and gone.

I presume I am not the only one that does this.

Iliad 3:181 to/n

What is the function of the acc. to/n in this line.
I can't get it to agree with anything.
As refering to Priam does not work for he is the subject, and as refering to Helen does not work because she is not masc.

iterative e)/ske in Iliad 3:180

dah\r au)=t' e)mo\j e)/ske kunw/pidoj, ei)/ pot' e)/hn ge.

I can't seem to translate the iterative e)/ske iteratively (is that a word?)

Isn't iterative characterized by repeated action?
I can understand 'he used to be' or 'he was' but not 'he was again and again.'
Is there another aspect indicated by an iterative ending?

Homeric Greek group starting

I will be starting a new Homeric Greek group in early September using the newly revised edition of "A Reading Course in Homeric Greek" by Schoder & Horrigan.

The first 60 lessons cover grammar and then the text proceeds to readings from Book 9 of the Odyssey.

Greek Homeric text

I am cruising right along in the Iliad. I'm at line 100 of book 3 and it is starting to get easier.
I only have the first 6 books of the Iliad and none of the Odyssey.
I would like to have all the books of both poems.
What is the best way to get them.
Are they available in one volume?
Thank you.

HELP: Scanning Line 1:89

Heya,

I'm having the dickens of a time trying to scan line 1:89 in the Iliad. Any help out there?

-- -- | -- u u | -- u u u | -- -- | -- u u | -- --

Obviously something is HORRIBLY wrong in my third foot. Can the "ba" in bareias be long? I'm I crazy? Which syllable I'm I mis-scanning?

Thanks for the help in advance!

KDG
