Like to Start New Group

I'd be interested in starting a new group to study White's First Greek Book and excerpts of Xenophon's Anabasis, with a slightly novel approach. I'd like to supplement the translation exercises in White with other exercises, and place more emphasis on reading and understanding Greek than on translation. The online exercises for Athenaze (http://web.uvic.ca/hrd/greek/) at the University of Victoria using the software "Hot Potatoes" from the same University( ...

Pronunciation Help?

Hello. I'm starting this book out very slowly and I would like to get everything right before I think about moving on.

So, there are a few letters that I'm unclear on. Think you can help a guy out? I'd appreciate it

Zeta- I'm guessing a Z sound, but the example "adze" threw me off

Iota- The examples given are pin and machine. Is this sort of a "You can do it either way you ...

Differentiating 1st-S./3rd-Pl. person in imp. ind. active

I am working through White's First Greek Book, and I have a problem. In Lesson VII, "Imperfect Indicative Active," the paradigm for this tense indicates that the suffix -ον plus the prefix ε serves to signal both the 3rd and 1st person. For each example, it gives the same conjugation for each verb in these cases. Same with the dual 2nd and 3rd person in the present indicative active: both have the suffix -ετον.

I am going to compile my own ...

I am looking for a good text that offers intense study of accents. I have two books I am working with: Athenaze, which glosses over them, basically. And Fordham press "Intensive Course" which covers them, but there is no answer key to see if I am doing it right.

Does anyone know of a text that has the answer key, is very intense and loaded with exercises and explanation?

Thank you!

Exercise 611

I am having problems with q4. The best I can come up with is
. For if once we keep two marches which (are) of three days away, the enemy will no longer follow us
I know this isn't right because "road/journey" is singular
The solution can't be "a journey of two or three days" because it doesn't say " of two"
Where does the two fit in?

I can't seem to download the answer key to White's First Greek Book. Is there any way to get this, or is it temporarily unavailable?
