Getting Started
The Learn Ancient Greek page will list all the textbooks we currently have for download. Read the summaries and choose books that are of interest to you.

We recommend either of the two following courses:

You will also want to download Goodwin's Greek Grammar. When you have questions that the textbooks cannot answer, Goodwin will!

It might be of interest to you to note that Ginn & Co. publishers produced textbooks to be learnt in a particular order. The books were designed to prepare the student for reading Xenophon. If you're interested in following this series, please explore books in this order:

  1. White's First Greek Book
  2. Goodwin's Greek Grammar
  3. Goodwin's First Four Books of Xenophon's Anabasis

Great, that's all you need to get started! Start working through the lessons and use the forum to ask questions and discuss topics of interest to you.

Welcome to the group, we hope to get to know you, so don't be shy leave us a post on the open board telling us about yourself.

Do you want to learn more about Classical Civilizations in the course of your study of the Greek language. Take a look at our Classics in translation available for download. If you are inspired by anything you are reading, bring it up as a topic of conversation in the Forum.

And don't forget that Textkit is now your community, and the Forum is yours, so make use of it, and don't be afraid to post your questions if you are having trouble. These are tough languages to master, and those of us who have learned them will be here to give you a hand up.
